Level AWCAG 2.2
2.2.1 Timing Adjustable
Users can turn off, adjust, or extend time limits set by the content.
Why it matters
Cognitive disabilities
For users who take longer to read and write, time limits are a significant barrier.
Screen readers
Listening through a page sequentially takes longer than reading it visually.
Motor impairments
Some users need many times longer than average to provide input.
Older adults
Even when speed declines, extended time lets them complete the same tasks.

Session timeout
Expires with no warning
Contact form
When there is a time limit, users need a way to turn it off, extend it (at least ten times), or receive advance warning.
Understanding through personas
Kimura (34) — Dyslexia
Filling out forms takes me far longer than most. On a banking site, my session expired while entering my address and I had to start over. It timed out three times in a row. An extend button would solve this.
